The DARREN J. RAY band is one of the most popular bands on the south Queensland club circuit, pulling big crowds wherever they play.
They perform a collection of material from artists such as The Beatles, The Beach Boys, Gene Pitney, The Everly Brothers and Buddy Holly as well as their catchy original songs including the single Please Cindy-Louise which has received national radio airplay.
The band is the nucleus of “The Fabulous Sounds of the Sixties Show” which has won BEST PRODUCTION SHOW at the last three annual Entertainer Of The Year Awards for Clubs in South East Queensland.
Anyone who enjoys live music and appreciates an energetic show with vocalists who can really sing should catch The Darren J. Ray Band.
Maverick, whimsical and anchored tight, 8Foot Felix’s magical brand of dancing music is crafted from gypsy, ska
and funk roots, spiced with the salty taste of sea shanties and vibrant splashes of hip-hop and blues. This winter
they are making the courageous road trip from Melbourne up the far north coast. A homecoming of sorts, the
tour will start in bassist Jamie’s hometown pub near Cairns, The Speewah Tavern - scene of a memorable
post-Eclipse Festival gig in 2012 which bore witness to an intergenerational dance-off between an 8-year-old and
an 80-year-old. It will be on for young and old again.
8Foot Felix’s Eclipse 2012 gigs opened the door to a 2013 UK Tour by securing slots at Secret Garden Party and
Boomtown Fair. Since then their annual headline slot at Rainbow Serpent Festival’s Playground stage has seen
them elevate their festival offering to new heights year on year. However, intimate bar and pub settings also
continue to play a crucial part in the Felix’s live offering, allowing the band to bring their dancing and
theatricality right into the heart of the crowd.
This year’s Q-Town Tour draws to a magnificent close in the Gold Coast Hinterland, a stone’s throw from
multi-instrumentalist Kate's childhood stomping grounds. A colourful journey will ensue en route, taking in
festival crowds at FNQ’s Bushweek, the Captain’s Birthday Party at Mackay’s Railway Tavern, and much more.
An exclusive tour edition EP will be unveiled, featuring a choice selection of songs hot off the press from the
band's recent Sing Sing Studio sessions.
